A quick look around the museum

Welcome to the Tanje Village Museum! The intention of this page is to give you a good idea of what you will see while visiting the museum.



As you enter the museum, you will pass our Museum Bantaba, where you will be greeted by griots playing traditional Gambian music, and where you can rest and stop for some refreshing drinks.



At the beginning of the tour, you can go and visit our Gallery, were you can see our exposition of traditional musical instruments, dyes, medicines, foods, and many other things. Also, ou will learn about the different types of animals that live in the Gambia.



From there on, a guide will show you around the museum, where he will tell you all you wish to know about the different crafts such as weaving and metalworking, the traditional compound, as well as the Nature Trail, where you will learn about several indigenous Gambian plants.



When you are done looking around the museum, feel free to visit our Museum Shop, where many books and souvenirs can be purchased. Also, all the craftsmen in the museum sell the things they make there.
