Experience The Gambia the way you want

At Tanje Village Museum we are going to offer three possibilities to accommodate your stay in The Gambia. Because of future business plans to suit the majority of the western tourists we are currently working on the different accommodation types. Right now we offer traditional lodges and in the future we will offer lodges with some extra facilities, as well as apartments.

When you are adventurous and/or want to experience the Gambian lifestyle we offer ten lodges. Some with two beds, some with one bed. These lodges are not provided with power or floating water. A candle will be your light bulb and you will sleep under a mosquito net and in traditional beds built from concrete and sleep on a comfortable matras. Of course sheets and a comfortable pillow, as well as toilet paper, are provided.

Every year 4 to 6 anthropology students from the University of Leiden, located in the Netherlands, are staying in the lodges. As well as 25 backpackers during the year. Are you ready for an adventurous stay at our 20.000 square meter property?

Apart from their size, currently all the lodges are the same. In the future we have plans to provide four lodges with electricity, floating water, a toilet and a shower. These lodges will be meant for people who also want to experience the Gambian lifestyle but with a bit more facilities.

Also at this moment, we are building apartments at the roadside with a sea view. They are being built in a new building which, in the future, will house diverse shops. It is supposed to be that there is going to be a supermarket, internet café, money exchange office and more. All to make your stay in Tanje Village as pleasant as possible.
